GLOBAL Offers:
EAP & SAP
Employee Assistance Program & Substance Abuse Professionals
If your policy allows employees that have failed a drug test to recover and
return to work, Global Safety & Security, Inc. can help you delineate a
program to assist with this process from beginning to end.
When an individual fails a drug screen, our Medical Review Officer (MRO)
will routinely offer a referral to the donor. We will refer them
to an agency in their area where they can get help if they need it without
regard for ability to pay. We have a list of chemical dependency help
agencies across the USA.
These program services are explained below:
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - Substance Abuse Professional
(SAP)
Some clients offer employees an opportunity for recovery and return of duty
(RTD). Many companies do not and simply terminate. In
either case, our MRO service will routinely offer a referral to any and all
positive donors. Clients are referred to a local agency where help is
available with no regard for payment ability. GLOBAL can provide a
list of chemical dependency help agencies upon request. If the
employee is a DOT driver, the law requires a referral to a SAP (substance
abuse professional) and that an assessment is done. We also refer to the SAP
and have an assessment done for the record. When employees test positive and
are considered for rehire, we also handle the referral and all return to
duty (RTD) documentation. Each employer must choose which policy direction
to take.
Return to Work
Employees who violate company drug and alcohol policy and are given a chance
to return to work must be properly supervised, coordinated, and randomly
tested to ensure that they remain drug free. There are specific rules to
follow where the D.O.T. regulations apply. Our experience has shown that the
maximum opportunity for successful RTD is through proper assessment,
treatment, and follow up with the patient.
Continued testing of the employee can add cost for the employer, but it is
the best deterrent and the only means of determining if the employee has
relapsed. Under D.O.T., RTD follow up testing is conducted for up to 60
months after return. We handle all aspects of the RTD for only the price of
the drug testing.
D.O.T. EMPLOYEES
Special consideration must be taken for D.O.T. employees. The law requires
these covered workers to be referred to a qualified Substance Abuse Provider
(SAP) regardless of their employment status with the company. GLOBAL handles
this requirement for our clients and removes this burden from the employer.

testing policy for your company.
